Bill was born in Sydney and educated at Cronulla. He completed a plumbing apprenticeship and also became a tiler. He married in 1960 and they had two sons. A second relationship brought four girls to his family, and in 1974 they moved to the Sunshine Coast, where he continued in the tiling trade. In 1978 he met Lesley and in 1980 they married (adding another step daughter to the family) and settled in a property at Glenview. He turned his hand to all things needed on the property, while continuing his love of sports activities, especially fishing.
In 1998, Bill joined the aviation museum, and in 2001 stepped into the position of Queensland Air Museum (QAM) Operations Manager. His wide ranging skills and experience were called upon over the whole range of activities at the aircraft museum, and his advice given freely to his wide circle of fellow workers. He received an award for Community Service in the Fisher Electorate, and was elected a Life Member of the museum.
He passed away suddenly on 9.3.16
