Ron passed away on 7 May 2000 at age 75 after battling stoically for a number of years. A Licensed Aircraft Engineer by trade, Ron graduated from the Melbourne Technical School and was among the first apprentice intake of the original Ansett Airways. He joined Trans-Australia Airlines in 1948 and served TAA until his retirement in 1965. Ron joined QAM in August 1989 and later served as Vice-President. One addition to the QAM collection which pleased Ron greatly was the nose section of one of his former charges, Viscount VH-TVJ. A keen sailor, Ron was a member of the volunteer coastguard as well as a museum stalwart.
