Born 10.8.1951, Paul was the first son of George and Zillah Willmott of Paddington, Sydney, and was educated at several Catholic schools, gaining a reputation as something of a tearaway. He developed a love of the outdoors and spent much time in these pursuits. He was apprenticed as an aircraft sheet metal worker. While in the trade he was called up for National Service in Vietnam and selected for officer training in the RAEME attached to the Army Aviation Corps. After Vietnam he worked for De Havilland Marine in management, married, qualified as an ultralight pilot, and for a time ran his own business. Moving in succession to Mudgee and then to Bathurst where he achieved a Bachelor of Social Science at Charles Sturt University, and remarried. In 2006 the family moved to Landsborough and he joined QAM, particularly working on the Caribou and becoming an instructor with the Youth Training Scheme. He was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on 28.4.2007.
