ALISTER (ALF) BAKER
1925 - 2004

Alf was born in Mackay on 4.12.1925, the third of six sons of Janet & John Baker. He was schooled there but completed an apprenticeship as a baker in Sarina. He joined the RAAF and trained as an electrical fitter and gained the nickname of 'Tisch'. While serving at Amberley in 1950 he married Loreen Brewer and they had a family of 4. He left the RAAF in 1965 and was employed by Qld. Rail at the Ipswich, Redbank, and Mayne workshops. During this time and until 1980 he retained his Air Force links by becoming a member of 23 Sqdn. CAF. In 2000 he retired to Caloundra and joined QAM with his major interest being the Canberra. He passed away suddenly on 19.2.04 following a day spent happily at the museum.
